Remote Infrastructure-Network Engineer
This position is with one of the largest Law firms in North American and is an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure/Network Engineer who is looking to work in a professional environment and play a role in the development of strategies for optimal use of infrastructure within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining network equipment with current updates and ensuring network infrastructure and related platforms are available and performing optimally
- Providing daily support of IP telephone systems including Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity voicemail system and Fax
- Remediating vulnerabilities to network infrastructure identified from security advisory report
- Troubleshooting and resolving network issues as per established SLAs
- Monitoring, analyzing alerts and logs to identify potential issues to network infrastructure systems, LAN and WAN links
- Providing escalation support in a third-tier capacity
- Introducing and integrating new infrastructure and cloud technologies
- Implementing and maintaining business continuity technologies, policies, and procedures to ensure the Firm’s systems and information are recoverable as per established standards
- Investigating and responding to alerts from monitoring system
- Applying operating system security updates and change configuration management
- Escalates in a timely manner support issues requiring management’s attention
- Sharing knowledge and expertise by creating training materials, troubleshooting procedures and by providing hands-on training sessions
- Optimize the availability of network systems architectures to deliver cost effective improvements that in turn deliver tangible business benefits
- Provide 24/7 after hours on-call support for network related infrastructures
- Maintaining and updating network infrastructure diagrams
- Keeping documentation up to date to meet ISO27001 standards
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills in a team-based environment
- Able to perform firmware upgrade to switches
- Working experience in Network administration, routing protocols and network access control solutions (NAC)
- Experience in Telephony technologies, MPLS, Cisco switches and routers
- Working knowledge of VMware virtualization, Microsoft server OS and Active Directory
- Strong understanding of network routing and switching protocols
- Able to implement the necessary tools to proactively monitor, troubleshoot and where necessary, assist and provide support to third parties to solve network connectivity problems
- Working knowledge of wireless, IDS/IPS, firewall, and RSA
- Able to provide daily support on Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Services.
- Datacentre experience including cabling and installation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure networking, VPN and Expressroute
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or an equivalent combination of work experience, education and training
- Minimum of three years of experience in an infrastructure services role
- Industry standard certification is preferred
